I originally read this novel when it was being translated, and I enjoyed it enough at the time.

Rereading it now.... I should have left it as a pleasant memory.

This novel was never highbrow literature. But as the novel progresses it just gets worse. In the beginning Master teachers are well respected, it explains that to become a master teacher the knowledge required is something that takes years to acquire and not just knowledge is needed experience is also required.
Now he's at the Hongyuan Master teachers academy.

And none of the characters act like "master teacher" they all act like childish idiots.

The Mc is schooling all the 4 star and 5 star Master teachers like they are just regular people.

These people are supposedly the best of the best to get into the academy of the millions of Master teachers from a dozen different empires.

And the Mc has to explain basic cultivation theories to them, none of the have the refined grace and noble nature that was explained earlier in the story.

How the novel should have been is that master teachers are actually rare. No master teachers academy or anything like that or if there was it should be like 1000 people max. I understand that these cultivation words are insanely massive and populated, but when master teachers are hyped up into being refined scholars, who are knowledgeable and experienced. But what's actually shown is the vast majority of them are jobbers who don't know left from right, it makes you wonder why master teachers are so revered.

it was somewhat interesting at the start, but quickly I found myself half-heartedly scrolling through this novel with barely any interest.

this novel is VERY hellbent on forcing "the power of friendship" cringe

a person tried to kill MC and his disciples? oh, whatever, just forgive him! in fact I've read 150+ chapters and the protagonist haven't killed a single person.
in other words this is basically a child friendly version of the cultivation world where everyone forgives each other and sh*t. this might be interesting for a kid, but as an adult who prefers the darker aspects of the cultivation world, this was a boring cringefest

the MC is a pathetic pushover who's desperate to act low-key while in fact being overpowered, but that's hardly surprising since that's just typical Chinese BS, either they're low-key or arrogant beyond belief.

This novel is a comedy, and if you uphold it to the standards of other novels that will fail.
If you start reading this novel you will quickly learn whether or not the face slapping humor is for you, that's the only thing that matters. I personally loved it and laughed harder than I've ever laughed at any other novel, but you probably wouldn't get the humor as much if you're unfamiliar with Chinese culture as represented by shitty light novels.

First time I read this novel very long time ago and it left some good impression to me.
So I decided to reread this novel again and I may say that I have very low standards in the past because this novel is a poor quality utter nonsense generic novel.
MC personality is somewhat passable, at least he is not egocentric bloodthirsty maniac obsessed with power. But still I can't take how cruelly he treats his artifacts (artifacts has spirits and personality). Probably the author thinks that it's funny to abuse innocent artifacts who feel nothing but respect and love for MC, but I can't agree with that.
Also MC often behaves like a total pushover, but the author claims that it's magnanimous behaviour.
For example MC granted a spirit to an artifact, this artifact views the MC like his parent and in order to protect MC it killed a serial mass murderers who attempted to kill MC. But MC severely beaten up the artifact for that and decided to compensate the relatives of this mass murderers - mass murderers which even the local government tried to kill but failed.
Master Teacher Pavilion (the most important and authoritative organisation) was described by the author like noble and honourable organisation which held a mission to upheld justice, enforce order, enlighten masses and prevent the state authorities from abusing populace.
But almost every single master teacher MC meets do nothing except behaves extremely arrogant, look on others with disdain, tries to frame and kill innocents to seize their possessions (episode with master teachers trying to seize the Kong shi personal handwriting belonging to MC's disciple), abuse their authority, closes eyes on any atrocities committed by the authorities (like crown prince massacres the entire clan to seize it's treasures) and even siding with the said authorities, executing innocents to appease a crowd, grossly neglects their duties, fear nobles and oppose MC on every single occasion and so on. This is a pile of s...it and not the noble organisation.
The novel filled with setting holes (like in one chapter the author will say that it's impossible to block effects of a demon tune by blocking one's sense of hearing because the demon tune resonate directly with a soul and in the next chapter the author will say that effects of the demon tune was successfully blocked by blocking one's sense of hearing).
MC's "cheat ability" functions in a very inconsistent way: sometime it will say what a certain person eat for breakfast 2 years ago with even exact timing (not to mention that's not even a "flaw) and in another time it will not be able to even name a battle technique used by someone.
Also the novel filled plot holes (for example a soul oracle has the ability to conduct a soul search but instead of using this skill the soul oracle just used ordinary interrogation and was unable to obtain any results).
Almost all storytelling about MC going through stupid tests and competitions and crowd praising MC for his abilities. Or about MC enrolling the stupid academies and graduated from them after 10 days (which often equals to 100-300 chapters).
The author has extremely broken sense of time. First 1000 chapters described around 1 year of events. And the author even has cheeks to say that when MC visited a certain kingdom the second time he became much more mature than when he visited this kingdom for the first time: 3 f...ing months elapsed since MC's first visites this kingdom. How mature MC has became since then?
The novel filled with "water" to the brim, the same things will be repeated again and again and again, on every obvious stupid thing the author will elaborate in the dozen of chapter. Every character which will apper in the novel for one minute only to say MC couple of words will be described in length of couple chapters with the most mundane and boring details (like his height, weight, color of his robe etc.).
Face slapping was made by the author to the absurd extremities, like when someone will criticise the MC RIGHT at the same time out of "sheer coincidence" the crowd of completely unrelated people will barge to this person to prove this person wrong - exactly right after this person will say something bad about MC, not the second prior or late.
The only strong points of this novel is that very very seldom it's funny, it has it's own unique theme and some resemblance of a plot.

This novel is just your typical formulaic faceslap novel. You can even tell how formulaic it is as once he does something, it's ALWAYS like this:

There's a hindrance (even when it doesn't make sense) whether a person or a situation or both
There's a dude that will make things difficult for him
    There's always an audience
The audience will always have a negative comment about him even after he has proven himself capable
Everything will always be a show even when he's just going to take a test or something
Someone will say something like "am I dreaming?!" then that person pinches someone else

It can be fun depending on your mood, though I think my biggest problem with this novel is that you can generally divide this novel into 3 main arcs corresponding to the 3 main worlds he goes to. (that all are pretty much the same)

And the 2nd world is just a rehash of the 1st world (where for the most part, each arc is just a rehash of the previous one), and the 3rd world is just a rehash of the 2nd.

So yeah. In a way, you can put this book down after he goes to the 2nd world since even though there are still mysteries, they're not that compelling unless you really enjoy this formula or you're really in the mood for this formula. (not even title, but formula)

Not the worst but definitely below average especially once it hits the 2nd world.

I mean for me the breaking point of this novel was when he went to save some niggas who were captured by demons or someshit. And he went to save them disguised. And they said shitz to him and he just took it standing there and blah blah. Oh yeah, this was after he became the principle of that college or something.

Imma try reading this again, it's been years.
