I'm up to chapter 10 and my conclusion so far is that the author needs lessons in pacing, brevity and flow.

Far too much explaining vs storytelling, and the horror scenes so far are completely absent of tension. It's just detail after detail of things that really aren't all that important to the story.

Never in my life have I seen such confidently ignorant statements. You're at chapter 10 bro, what horror scenes do you expect? It's a literal tutorial. And the author does write in an inconventional way, but that says nothing about his capability and competence, it is purely a matter of preference.

I dont think you can give a good review just base on 10 chapters. Just finished this novel and i can say that its good even tho the translation from 606 onwards are basically sht. Its basically a novel that's quite unique in my opinion. Kinda slow paced but all info and backgrounds connect. And the ending.. jesus that ending is quite good.

P.S. All I learn in this novel is... CHUCK NORRIS IS BASICALLY GOD 🤣

The only novels I've seen improve substantially are the ones with just some newbie mistakes but otherwise held the traits of a good writer who quickly learned their mistakes and improved.

On the other hand, the vast majority of novels that start off with certain egregious mistakes....barely improve, if at all.

If a writer isn't actively learning, they stick with their mistakes for a long time. It they don't care to rewrite a terrible introduction it shows they aren't very invested in making a good story for others. They're just focused on writing a story at all.

And that's fine. That's a valid way to create novels and earn a living. It's just not going to be quality work.

Finally... you have no idea how much time I've wasted trying to hold out for authors to learn and improve on their horrendous mistakes.

        But every. Single. Time.

Anyone with certain types and patterns of mistakes just doesn't learn. Time and time again.

At best they just learn the cheap tricks to churn out word count, drag actual content along until its dead and beaten, or catter to the meta. Regression is far more common than progress.

Very very few below a certain level of skill will make substantial improvements.

And like I said before. That's fine. Many people will still consume it.

        But many will also not.

My dislike for it is just as valid as your enjoyment.

If you like it, good for you. And that's not sarcasm. I'm happy people are enjoying leisure reading.

But I didn't enjoy it so I'm warning others like me, just like I hope they would do the same for me.

Do you know the discord of the tl? It's been 3 days since the big update then no news after. There's not even a review by the tl. I'm just hopeful since there's privilege chapters meaning there's an intent for stable updates.

The translator (LonelyTree) said in their discord that they are not the one translating the new chapters. They also suddenly can't edit the chapters anymore. By the way, the new ones are probably edited mtl, it's basically mtl but the names are correct(most of the time).

LonelyTree is currently translating My Iyashikei Game, one of my favourite ongoing novels rn. If you want something good to read I'd recommend that plus there's 500 free chapters.

I'm already reading that. Good read, it's just the officials/police is kind of dumb. Confidential informations are easily given to the mc as long as he asks for it.

I remember reading this awhile ago, i liked it back then but the puzzles and scenarios got really complicated. Like one of the ones i remember had to do with a teleporting time traveling murder mystery that he also had to collect items and it also had like 5 layers of plot twists that were just confusing and really hard to follow. It might not be THAT bad and i might be forgetting stuff or insurting stuff that wasnt there but i remember just being confused and my head hurting after that arc. (Edit: after looking at the chapters and skimming i think its the “despicable me” arc ~chapter 150)

If that sounds fun then I recommend it the MC is basically a brick but has sherlocks brain so while its fun to watch him solve stuff he doesnt really have a personality from what I remember.

Was just going off of memory (haven’t read this in awhile) i just dont remember him having much of a personality. The only thing i remember anything that involves a personality was him dressing up as the joker for reasons.
