    I just realized something, and correct me on this one, but the reason authors writing on webnovel can't strike their novels on ranobes is because they don't own the copyright anymore Webnovel does via their garbage contract, and Webnovel can't strike Ranobes since Webnovel also pirates novels cheerful

      you're not wrong. WN contracts are almost like slave contracts because you're basically signing all your rights and content away to WN to do whatever they want with them. They could even replace authors who they dont like anymore with staff writers.

      As for piracy... while i dont know if WN has actually pirated novels themselves before, they basically tacitly support it by allowing anybody to post almost any novel on their 'originals' section which is full of pirated novels.

      Webnovel can't strike Ranobes, because the chapters that Ranobes is sharing are technically free. why? because those chapters only cost fast passes, things that you can get by spamming emails and reading entire novels through them. so what it means is that Ranobes is only making it convenient for readers. Premium chapters on the other hand are unlocked through online currency which can be acquired only through paying money, so publishing them = stealing.

      what you have realized right now isn't true bud. the reason Webnovel can't strike Ranobes is this - they aren't stealing or pirating anything. why? because what Ranobes is posting on their site is content that is already free. sure, you can say 'but they are locked behind fast passes', but to that, I tell you, what's preventing you from circumventing that restriction by creating 30 emails? as such, what Ranobes is essentially doing is this - they are just making it more convenient by posting essentially free chapters on their website, where restrictions don't apply. this is why chapters locked behind Memberships are protected in such a way, that when webnovel was hacked and all premium chapters were unlocked, Ranobes got cease and desist(I am pretty sure that's what happened) with which they had to comply. this is why they had to remove those premium chapters
