Shadow Slave by Guiltythree

I honestly didn't want to pick up this novel for the longest time because of the way it was presented. "Shadow slave, does that mean the main character is always going to be someones slave? I'm not really into that.". So I dropped it. Half a year later i finally just started reading it because really, I'd read everything I'd wanted to read so I was bored.

Reading it was an ... Experience. I'll be honest I usually read power fantasies so reading this torture porn was quite a deviation from my usual but I kept on reading. It dragged me in with hopeless situations the sadist author always put the MC in, and the unintentional or intentional comedy the MC naturally generated, and then I reached the latest chapter and I was lost.

Seriously what the f#ck, i would have never expected to like this dog shit and here i am praising it. Whatever, i don't even know what to say anymore just give it a chance

I have an explanation for the flaw naming... The flaw is most likely told in runes language and it has been stated that runes are far more detailed than English and their translations are not good. For eg- Changing Star can also mean Star of Ruin. Similarly, 'You cannot lie' should also be translated into 'You must always say the truth'... Its a literal translation problem people, there solved

for me the whole story is good.
The whole storyline holds up. And it is an interesting adventure to read.3.6/5. But I intend to abandon the series because the development of the main character especially in the emotional side does not please me too much. I know many of you will disagree.
I didn't really understand the somewhat exaggerated attachment between the main character and nephis.
It's a good story to read and I highly recommend it.

Having read up to 472 and now, after a long time, seeing all the comments on here, I can say only one thing. All the people that dislike this, didn't really read it, they skimmed through it.

Also, all of those that say it "bad" mention the same things, most notably "I don't like his flaw", "Why did that thing happen", "The MC is x type of character at first and then y". I will address these three since they are the ones I see most.

The flaw has been explained enough, no he can't stay silent, no he can't lie under normal circumstances but he can say half truths, if you don't like that, don't read it, it doesn't make the novel "bad", you just want a power fantasy to read with 0 flaws of the MC, that's fine, but don't blame a novel that does otherwise.

If you don't know what the "thing" that happened is, I won't spoil it, (hint). Now, anyone mad with that. Good you can stop reading, but complaining that it was a bad move, after all the chapters that have come out since, is just plain stupid. The novel has very good progression, It is rated first in so many other sites for a reason...just say you like to read fast pace, 0 consequence trash and we will be done with it.

As for the last...the MC never "suddenly changed character". If you binged 100+ chapters in a day and the MC went from what a normal kid (YES even a kid that lived on the streets) to someone more distant that needs to cope by using humor or whatever other change he had, doesn't mean it was a sudden change nor does it make the novel bad. I've been here since day one pretty much, when it had around 10ish chapters. The MC did change, all the characters did, but that is normal character progression, not some reality altering change that took place in a single chapter.

If you still have something to say, downvote me, but reply making your own case and i will reply back till either you prove me wrong or admit that the novel is not bad, you just have a different taste.

I have more to add if anyone wants, but my advice to anyone new that wants to decide if they will read it is this, DO READ IT AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND.

Why does he have to speak the truth when anyone ask a question and not be abe to ignore them or not answer their question??? Author really make this as frustrating as possible.

Althought this premise sound goods its better suited for printed novel where author have all the time they want and can come up with witty line and half truth for MC that wiill make this stroy 1000% better but when author is tight on time and need to make new chapter everyday, giving yourself such a narrow narrative is just asking for a failure.
