The same author that wrote sword of day breaker wrote this so I wouldn’t really be surprised if it has a trsh ending. Only time will tell I guess if he can learn from his mistakes or not.

This one is good, but the fire hasn’t really started burning yet. I’m told it gets hot around ch 200, so I will reserve judgement.

Basics as a novel are solid, good TL, and good writing.

I have read until ch 91 and will leave a small review here to help fellow readers. There may be a bit of a minor spoiler so if you do not wish to read the rest ….TLDR, I very much recommend the novel.

The novel has a very similar style to LOTM with different flavors. There is mystery, steampunk, arcane, transmigration with similar “grit” and “horror.” If LOTM is tonkatau ramen this can be considered shio ramen.

There is character progression, but it is more self reflection and journey of finding oneself. Furthermore there are some nice comedic reliefs sprinkled throughout like a fine layer of Parmigiano Reggiano ontop of pasta.

The characters themselves have not fully been developed yet, so it is hard to comment without making predictions and speculations. However, the main character is not stupid (so far) and the supporting cast all feel like they have some purpose.

The world building is top notch so far and has not disappointed. There are many layers, but the scene is set in a post apocalyptic and almost medieval setting which I prefer.

However (as of ch91), it lacks some of the adrenaline rush or emotional trigger that some other novels are capable of with a out of the world combat scene or romantic/tragic events.


My score so far is 8.8/10. It is like home cooking. Something like an omakase from a good restaurant may steal your attention, but you will keep coming back because the novel has good fundamentals and has what you need.

Currently all the ingredients for another gem are here. Now I just hope the author can cook them properly into a dish worth savoring.

This novel is very similar to LOTM and from what I've been reading I'm really enjoying the novel
so far, go read on the original translation site Bcat00, it is free to read on anyways and it gives the translators more motivation to keep translating this novel.

Now that there are 60+ translated chapters and 170+ raw I'll say this: interesting. Now about details:
World background: complex. It starts preaty boring: massive ocean, steampunk, occultism. After LOTM my first thought was this is Earth, but after some years. But further down the book are presented different theories about world creation from dwellers themselves.
Story development: intriguing. Great attention for small details. Something insignificant may foreshadow major plot twist. Everything proceeds logically, and if something happend because it happened, there will be explanation futher down the chapters.
Characters development: can't tell. I mean, I was reading mtl, and quality was getting worse with each chapter. At the end I was forced to imagine what every word means. Nonetheless, I can say that some characters are more than what they show . But character interactions are somewhat stereotypical, and not like real interaction (may be wrong, because most characters are presented after 70th chapter, where is realm of mtl).
Writing quality: translated good, mtl bad.
Now I guess the most important question: is it similar to LOTM? Maybe? I mean, steampunk, occultism, gods, #fog_bullshit, you get your head fried after witnessing the truth. But it is not weak to strong, it is strong to understanding why are you strong, completely different plot. So yeah, there are many similarities, but it is different. But even if it isn't, you'll still like it.

Och looks like L.OT., but cooler, for now. I'm even surprised that this author wrote garbage earlier

If you love mystery, this one is for you. It's only 22 chapter so I don't want to rate it. The author also wrote the record of unusual creatures. MC transmigrates into the body of the cursed captain of the pirate ship. He tries to understand how this world works with a cursed doll named Alice and his first mate the statue.
