Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened — an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers.

Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters — and other Awakened — in a deadly battle of survival.

What’s worse, the shadow powers he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect… Collapse

This novel is average at it's best.
    Has a unique world background,
    Little to no character development
And you will get bored from the way story is presented.
you can speed run it if u have nothing else to read.

In this vast universal junkyard of light-novels, this one is certainly a gem among germs. The story is captivating, well-written, the characters are attractive and the story is well balanced. This is no cheap junk-food-for-thought where delusional writers put their phantasms onto their MCs, and then make it an erotic novel instead of a fantasy one. This one has a depth that makes the readers believe, and then look forward for more; instead of simply relieving of their boredom. A really great novel up until now, and I really hope that it would stay that way.

I am bewildered that you have 3 dislikes.

I mean you spoke in facts and if someone for some reason disagreed they should reply and inform us (the guys who are wondering weather to read) why you are wrong

the story is a jewel but I feel a huge hatred for nefis and I don't know why, I confess I was rooting for her to die at the end of vol 1, I was sad that it didn't happen, so I'll continue to follow the wait for a beautiful and dramatic but certain death for her.

Grand ancestor bloodline or something like that (above average)

It's called Grand Ancestral Bloodlines if anyone is interested. I don't remember the author's name currently, but if you look up the title here on Ranobes, you will find the novel.

A unique and interesting book, with innovative developments - well written characters, captivating , world well written and well done. In addition, the forms of power for humans and monsters are unique and different - the problems of the book would be the MC being very passive and undeveloped in his character even in 220 chapters, short chapters and sometimes seem a little filling ( but some help give more depth) , however, the reading is worth it.

Well, I agree with most comments, but the one where the MC is passive? Nah... I mean, you may just be too used by all those speedy junk-food-for-thoughts novels. But yah, I think this MC is quite credible and even attractive for a 'wooden' type. A lot of writers use this type of 'indifferent' MC, but few can actually make me sympathize with one of this type. This author—not writer—did it! And does it beautifully.

Great story about a kid with nothing else to lose but refuses to give in no matter how he is beaten, battered, and later broken.

As of 226 the MC has been put through so much, and it doesn't all feel like a convoluted way just to torture him specifically, since everyone has their own bits of Hell to deal with.

I really kept binge reading just to find out if Sunny can finally make it, and become some semblance of a hero, or be driven past the brink and collapse for good.

This book is simply incredible. I am currently supprting the author through webnovels.

The plotline is well thought and so far there are not many holes!!
There is comedy in the story that comes at appropriate times
It's not one of those stories where one just levels up go to new sect and repeat or worse to say tournament!! The world's background is quite unique.

Also even though it's only 220 chapters at the time of writing; I can clearly see how the mc and side charecters are evolving in personality and opinion wise.

I simply have one request just read this mastermind.
