        as for the grovelling thing, op likely wants arrogance to reach the heavens. mc when he was a qi condensation cultivator was bullied by a core formation cultivator and he did bend over for her, but later what he did to her was enough as a vengeance.

      Try 'The mirror legacy', it's the story of a MC stuck inside a mirror. Helping a clan named "Li" to accented into Immortals. The story mostly focuses on the family members and how they interact in a world where cannibalism is normalised. It's great read if have patience and love for character building.
