Lin Yun, 36 years old, lost his wife early on. A mid-level manager in a private company and a single father, he’s been feeling the weight of a midlife crisis lately.

His career has hit a rough patch, his relationship with his 14-year-old daughter is locked in a cold war, and he suffers from chronic shoulder pain that makes every day miserable.

And just recently, he discovered a shocking secret—his daughter is a magical girl.

A young girl, standing against extraordinary monsters, a hero protecting the city from attacks. That’s how the public sees magical girls.

But he knows the truth—being a magical girl is dangerous.

Should he stop her? Or should he respect her choice and find another way to protect her?

Staring at the long-forgotten Heart Blossom gathering dust in his wardrobe, Lin Yun—the former magical girl who retired 19 years ago—faces the third major crossroads of his life. Collapse

Daoist Inkdrunk’s Commentary Upon Witnessing a Man Become Maiden

Amitabha. Having read beyond chapter 242 — even daring to gaze into the distorted qi-abyss of MTL realms where clarity perishes — this humble cultivator now descends from seclusion to deliver his findings. If the venerable Tribulation Masters find fault with this artifact-forged wordplay, I offer my apologies in advance. The dao of satire is heavy, and this poor wanderer merely seeks to lighten the burden of the webnovel realm with a few whimsical strokes of brush and blade. quiet gloom

When I first glimpsed the title, I thought this was another wayward scroll....perhaps written by a drunk immortal or a jaded scholar lost in whimsy. But lo, beneath the frilly disguise lies a battle-worn gem. wiseacre

Imagine this: Earth has merged with a magical realm, beasts prowl, and magical girls rise as humanity's last bastion. And into this chaos steps... Lin Yun. Office worker. Father. Husband. And yes ....bearer of the frilliest transformation sequence this side of the Celestial Mountains. troll11

Do not be deceived, fellow Daoists. Though Lin Yun wields ribbons and sparkles, his heart is forged of tempered steel. He is no perverted alchemist fumbling with fanservice. Nay, he is a man who shoulders responsibility across generations...shielding both daughter and mortal realm under a skirt hem of justice. chad

Now into the arcs: (if deemed as spoiler...i apologise early...as I would be giving a little briefing about the plot)

    Arc 1:
A poetic blend of family drama, urban warfare, and magical girl mythos. Shonen in spirit, seinen in soul. The battles are crisp, the characters (especially the side cast) lovingly inked. Each interaction builds on trust, loss, and generational baggage a Cultivation Chat Group, if you replaced memes with magical trauma.

    Arc 2:
The qi flow stumbles. A bit too much SoL tea-drinking and not enough qi-condensing combat. Some hints of “questionable aroma” rise between Lin Yun and a senior magical maiden...nothing toxic, just narrative awkwardness that dissipates faster than a junior disciple’s dignity at a brothel.

Still, the Dao persists. The core remains righteous.

    Other Notes:

The worldbuilding? Dense enough to merit footnotes, yet smooth enough to sip like fine spirit tea.

Translation? Like a Nascent Soul cultivator having a stroke ..sometimes erratic, sometimes profound. (Yes, 翠雀 ≠ Veronica. That’s a heresy worthy of literary sect punishment.) troll17

The MC? Not a musclehead. Not a skirt-chaser. Just a tired dad with terrifying drip and lethal sparkle-fu. clap

    Closing Words:
This novel is no mere fluff scroll. It wrestles with identity, duty, parenthood, and sacrifice. A rare case of the Magical Girl genre growing up... without losing its wonder.

Recommended for cultivators tired of edge-lord murder hobos and harem collectors with the emotional range of a spirit stone. Instead, here you’ll find laughs, lore, and ..dare I say the most honorable transformation scene you’ll ever read.

Rating: 8.7/10 talismans of hidden pain, with an extra point for not making me gouge out my eyes at every magical girl interaction.

still writing between tribulations and tea.

        Daoist Scroll of Deluded Enlightenment
Ah… greetings, aspiring immortal of the Dao of Skimming.
You flatter this humble hermit, but alas... if I were truly enlightened, would I still be here dodging karmic debt and writing reviews?

Listen well: to ascend sideways as I have, you must skim at 3AM, review with reckless poetry, and react with the kind of artifact spam that makes the Heavens sigh. Pretend you’re enlightened....sect leaders do it all the time. When your confusion matures into chaos, and chaos finds rhythm, you’ll know you’re on the right path. Until then, may your scrolls confuse ten and amuse one. addiction swindler (Just kidding ...dont want to be lynched by angry mob) Teehe

Heavenly Venerable "Panic" has granted this mere cultivator the right to use artifacts for script refinement and yes, he also has given me this leeway. But fear not... the thoughts, essence, and madness all still arise from my own Dao-heart. I hope this clear your dilemma fellow daoist.

What a sight to see, fellow Daoist. Not for naught were the words of ancient sages remembered by the younger generations, for indeed, it is not the appearance of the scroll that dictates its value, but what holds within its core! Sometimes, the essence of it all hides between lines of insanity, seeking someone who'd dare to dip into the stream of utter chaos to find the path. And surely one would not find it in the embrace of the homely hearth fire. And so, I thank you, oh, the one who thirsts for ink on your journey, for you have not only braved the consumption of poisonlike scroll for others, but may even have given me insight into the Great Dao in your answer to fellow brother Lord of the Nine.

So, let me discuss the understanding I received, so as to open the path to discussion.

The enlightenment I received is of a yin-yang nature. One of order in chaos, of calmness in insanity, of enlightenment in ignorance. For it was written by the brush of your ink, "When your confusion matures into chaos, and chaos finds rhythm, you’ll know you’re on the right path". Truly, what a great sentence it is. My soul seemed to flutter as my dao shone upon reading it. Alas, what I've received cannot be fully expressed in words, but I shall try nevertheless.

Upon reading the sentence, I thought about confusion. When is it that we are confused and when not? And then it hit me as if the heavens themselves exploded. There never really was clarity at all! When was it that we had absolute understanding in that which happened, happens, and will happen? Never. Yet still, we clung to the illusion of clarity we got through the sweet whispers of power and the weak-willedness of our meek minds. For as you mentioned, even the sect leaders themselves, those who seem so out of reach, so powerful and wise, are themselves confused. Aren't they also seekers of the path, just like we? For they have not created this universe, so how will they know of its truth if they were in ignorance? For death shall meet them one day just the same, and they will be put to rest in the same earth as a beggar across the street. But then came chaos. What is truly happening in this world we were born into? We'll never fully comprehend. This uncertainty naturally lead to the birth of chaos in our minds, in search of solace from this cursed yet beautiful world. Yet this is the most dangerous point on our paths, a point which will determine our future. For woe to those who revel in chaos as if that was their nature, they will be true losers on the path, corrupted by what they loved and thought loved them. Chaos is a volatile being, one that contradicts the nature of humans. Why would it be that our minds are so afraid of the uncertainty, then? This is the point when balance takes its natural course. The way will be filled with obstacles, but in the end, one will find the balance that will bring solace to the mind realm. One will find transcendence over the mortal worries of wealth and death, of opinions and tragedy, and most importantly, over the fear of uncertainty. For that is the path, neither too extreme nor too mellow, not too lazy nor too working, not too much in comfort but neither in too much stress. Extremities corrupt, fueled by chaos, and turn pure wishes into a distorted version of themselves, shackling the owner of the wish as its eternal slave, body and soul.

So heed my warning, fellow daoists, do not worry about uncertainty, for it is but the nature of this world to bring you uncertainty, testing your will. Do not fall into chaos, for it will shackle you to corruption like those sect leaders who brought war unto the realms! FOR WILL THEY NOT LIE BESIDE YOU IN THEIR GRAVES!? WHAT WILL THEIR EARHTLY DESIRES BRING THEM IN THE END, EXCEPT THE FIRM EMBRACE OF THE FURIOUS EARTH FOR DARING TO BRING CORRUPTION TO THE PEOPLE!? So heed my warning, my peers, do not be corrupted and hold firm on the path. Find the certainty in the uncertainty, seek the truth among the lies, achieve balance in the chaos, and you shall be SUCCESSFUL!

(P.S. I thank you once again, oh, the one who seeks ink on your journey, for you have brought me insight on the path. May my ramblings be of some help to you and others.)

Brother… I thank you. I shall now go lie down, face flat on a cold stone, and reflect on my poor karmic choices that led me to this moment of… awakening? Maybe. Or maybe I just need more tea.

But know this: your words have been carved into my internal logbook. We shall meet again... hopefully when I’m more intoxicated.

You’d be surprised how popular that genre is. I became the academy’s pink airhead, reincarnated as the narrow eyed character in a magical girl story, Mr magical girl, I became a magical girl but I’m actually a guy, I became the NPC that ranker’s obsess over, I became a magical girl loved by the villain. There’s hundreds of these stories, and of the ones I’ve read, I found them to be pretty decent.
