As Shin Youngwoo had an unfortunate life and is now stuck carrying bricks on construction sites. He even had to do labor in the VR game, Satisfy!

However, luck would soon enter his hopeless life. His character, ‘Grid’, would discover the Northern End Cave for a quest, and in that place, he would find ‘Pagma’s Rare Book’ and become a legendary class player… Collapse

This is a review with SPOILERS so be advised.

Overgeared is an excellent novel with sadly an horrible start, most people say that it is the first one hundred chapters but i dissagree, you only start to notice serious changes in the two hundreds. It is a somewhat cliche story of friendship and self improvement but it works, you can clearly notice Grid changing every chapter though i do have to say that some times such changes feel a bit rushed or artificial and another thing to note is that the author tends to forget skills, stats, titles, etc and kinda messes the timeline but it's completely bearable.

I think it's been nine years in real life time which translates to twenty seven years in-game, people who complain about him having a wife or children in-game have to understand that it's almost another reality, imagine living more than twenty years in another enviroment, he spends an average of fourteen hours in there, at this point he's probably more comfortable being Grid than Youngwoo. The complaint of it being a video game and there being no risks is valid but at this point in story 1700+ he's basically the pillar of the game, the power scaling went so high that if he dies once the losses would be catastrophic not only in Satisfy but in reality too because the amount of assets invested in his empire are bigger than a country and if he dies the surface is going to be instantly invaded.

It might not have the most original side characters but the important ones are actually well written to the point where you can get emotionally atached to some of them, I actually cried when
died and i would probably cry again if either
did to. though i do have to say that the npc's are a lot more interesting than the players. Grid is sadly? Too overpowered so the few players that can somewhat follow him tend to be under him and tho some of them have interesting personalities and are likeable they pale in comparison to some of the npc's.

The world itself is somewhat interesting but at the same time very predictable, you have the surface which till now has the east and the west continent, hell and heaven. There's some hidden lore to hell which is somewhat interesting and heaven is the place where the heavenly gods reside, the surface in the other hand is a typical medieval fantasy world, different races, kingdoms, faiths, etc but there are some very interesting hidden stories, my favourite is no doubt the
but there are other interesting places.

I won't describe Grid because he has been discussed a lot and the romance is not even a central point in the story, but i do have to say that Irene is an excellent wife, mother and queen and even though she's not "real" she is one of the best characters in the novel even while her screen time is low, and if one day Irene dies Grid will either become Kratos or the biggest evil to ever exist.

Overgeared is one if not my favorite webnovels, i've read it two times and i hope i could forget it and read it again. I really recommend it and if you cant get past the first two hundred chapters try reading the manwha, it's a lot more bearable, this review is missing some things like the power scaling but it's better to read it for yourself, i'll just say that the first epic still makes me shudder until this day. If you do get involved in the story then i wish you a happy reading, i really envy you.

Since there r a lot of comments talking about how good this is, I probably don’t have to say anything about it. I just want to ask if anyone knows how long this novel is going to go on for? Has there been any news on this or does anyone know how far the raw version is at this moment

This is probably one of the best, if not the best, Korean Web novel there is and that I've had the pleasure of reading. I'm basing my review on the 1.5k chapters I've read. Beware of spoilers below.
I don't really want to structure this into pros and cons and so I'll probably just talk about certain topics without any particular order.

The MC - Grid (or Greed, as the translator later explained) is a an annoying, greedy, despicable , degenerate with low self esteem at the start which is/can be very triggering but I assure that he improves as a person and as a character throughout the entire novel and as of right I would say he's transitioned into a stable, respecting and friendly guy who is completely different from his younger self. The story progresses over a long time, several years irl and over a decade in the game, and as such you can literally "see" the Mc grow with his losses, achievements and new people he meets. The only thing I dislike about him to this day, though to lesser extent now, is how dense/ignorant by choice this mf is. He has such low self esteem that he cannot fathom how beautiful and successful women like Jishuka and Yura can fall for him which really slows down the romance. By like 1.2 or 3k chapters till something big even happens. There's lots of good moments tho. I love his relation with the NPCs because it really makes you feel for them as well.

Side characters - this novel has a lot of side characters, just imagine one piece (manga), and as such it is very hard to keep every single one of them relevant and while I think the author does a good job you do see characters that used to appear every chapter or every other chapter disappear almost entirely. As new arcs and characters get introduced the older start appearing less, though there are exceptions like some of his first in game friends. No-one truly disappears forever and you can expect them to pop back up at some point. Most of these characters have their own struggles, motivations and honestly some of them could genuinely be the mc. I do absolutely hate Agnus tho and I wish the author either killed him off, never introduced him in the story or fixed him properly. The man has been proven to be crazy by doctors and he has an unstable mind and then at some point he just fixes himself and starts to get better out of a sudden. I always dislike it when he appear and wish the author would stick to his original personality and ended up with him quitting the game and getting help and not with what we got. Worst character by far imo.

Plot - it's an mmorpg novel so a lot of the time the story is centered in game and I'd say it is like 85% in game and 15% irl, simply because there are events that are a mix of the 2. The plot, aside from the characters, is what really sets this story apart from all the other shitty/average mmorpg novels I've read, because here everything feels genuinely connected and well thought out and there are no random or bullshit plot points imo. It all follows a certain standard and it rarely goes below that. It basically only gets better from the start to right now, tho as the story progresses, its focus shifts numerous times cuz the mc goes from a loser/nobody, to someone who's doing well to a star and his thought process and life experiences make it so that everything is different. The game also goes through events and changes obviously.
My biggest complaint plot wise is that the last few arcs, and future ones for sure, are too focused on great demons, gods and divinity. I really wish that instead of that we'd see him explore the North and south continents, if they even exist, cuz as of right now I'm not a big fan of how the power scaling and whatnot is shooting through the roof or quite literally the sky.

The romance - unlike some of the people here in this comment section I really like hsi relationship with his in game wife Irene
, although it truly makes me sad that she can't be brought out. Their relationship and the way it developed really makes me sad sometimes cuz at the end of the day she is an NPC while he is a human. It feels quite bitter to me when I start thinking about it. His irl love interests include Yura, the Korean diva, and Jishuka, the Brazilian tigress I guess. As of chapter 1500 he's not officially dating one or the other but he did pick Yura over Jishuka although I'm quite certain the author has plans for Jishuka at some point cuz of how things have been developing. Again the mc is very dense and this really takes a lot of time. If I'm being honest I really would like him to end up with Jishuka nd Yura in the end cuz I really like them both. Pls author forwhat.

That's about it. I'd give this novel probably a 4.5/5 or a 4/5 simply because mmorpg novels where the game has no effect on the real world aren't really my thing.

Ps: Piaro is a Chad and the best character. Tho peak sword is a close second with his "Do you know" questions, Lauel toooru2x
