Saul traverses into a wizarding world filled with eerie mysteries and deadly crises.

Determined to survive, he resolves to overcome all obstacles and become a wizard. However, in this terrifying world, both apprentices and official wizards must constantly face the threat of death. Worse yet, Saul finds himself a prime target for persecution.

Fortunately, he acquires a diary that can predict the future.

But every prediction reads:

[You bled out and died.]

[You turned into fertilizer and found great satisfaction in your new form.]

[You laughed yourself to death.]

[Three years later, you became someone else’s potion ingredient.]

Saul: (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻ I don’t want this cheat anymore!

Wait… Saul’s eyes suddenly lit up—Did I just rule out another wrong choice?

Before long…

Diary: (╯#-皿-)╯~~╧═╧ This isn’t what a diary is supposed to do! Collapse

This has so much potential. The world building is like lotm with knowledge being corruptive and the magic system reminded me of throne of arcana. The Mc also does research into magic and his progress is a joy to see. However, after 80 chapters it felt like the author suddenly became indecisive about the genre. A world that was supposed to be dangerous and bleak, where everyone put themselves and their survival first became a world where the Mc save someone that only wanted to befriend him for benefits simply became he provided him some irrelevant info, where mc's friends never die no matter the danger level, where the mc's friends uncharacteristically risk their lives just for the Mc. The story could have been a very interesting horror story in a bleak wizard world but for some reason author decided to sprinkle in some Shonen. It is so disappointing. It's like buying dark chocolate for the bitterness just to find out there is some sweet vanilla in it.

It's not that bad, but the plot is completely contradictory and full of water.

I'll start by talking about the protagonist: he's a soul transmigrated into the body of a boy named Saul. The book mentions about three times that in his past life he was a 30-year-old guy who died from overwork, but that doesn't change the plot at all. Besides, his maturity at 30 is pretty much on par with his 12-year-old peers.

The most annoying thing is that most of the time he acts in an exaggeratedly ignorant way for a guy who reads novels and is that age. He creates extremely unique things, but even with all the evidence, he doesn't realize that he's done something incredible. In addition, he's terrible with money and hasn't developed a plan for how to raise money. He's just doing the job that his mentors chose.

I don't think it's wrong for him to work for others. After all, this job guarantees him some perks. But, for his ascension, at the very least he should try to find other ways to raise money in case this job is taken away from him, and it's kind of inaccurate that a person who died from overwork wouldn't recognize that.

The worldbuilding wasn't well written: The secondary characters are limited to wizards, wizard apprentices, and common people.

Although wizard apprentices and wizards have longer lives, it's not explained how long they might live.

However, even with these differences in power, you don't see any difference between the three.

1st, they're all equally selfish and arrogant.

2nd, they all despise the MC until he shows his 'power'.

3rd, there's a minority that respects the MC, and they're put under a rose-colored filter, giving the impression that they're good people and better than the rest.

The thing that really kills it, is when other characters comment how he's so much more mature than a boy his age.

Promising novel but I wished there was more action, cultivation and character interaction rather than mostly boring horror and mystery

Honestly I found the novel kind of boring so far. It probably just isn't to my tastes, but my gripes with the novel is that Saul just feels kind of aimless. It doesn't really feel like he has any tangible goals or directions he's working towards and is essentially just getting pushed around a lot. Now granted I've only read up to 100 chapters before dropping it, so someone can confirm if this changes or if I just missed something but I can only say while I liked the concept and world its just not for me.
