The Age of Mechs has arrived! Unfortunately, Ves Larkinson lacked the genetic aptitude to become a famed mech pilot. Fighting against his fate, he studied mech design in order to express his love for mechs in a different way and make his father proud.

When Ves graduated from college, he returned to a new but empty boutique. His dad had disappeared. Left with a small, newly founded mech workshop… Collapse

The Mech Touch is a solid story about a less than great MC. He constantly makes poor choices that land him in hot water, falls through on most of his plans, and despite being a Mech Designer, doesn’t really design mechs.

To try and limit possible spoilers I will talk in broad terms. The Mech Touch isn’t a system novel about designing mechs, it’s a space-based political adventure novel with mechs.

The story about a mech designer falls off fairly quickly and moves onto a novel about a guy who is constantly loosening his morals and complaining about why he’s always in trouble or danger.

While I have dropped the novel this does not mean it’s bad, it’s a solid 3.8 - 4.0, it just isn’t the novel I wanted to read. If you’re expecting tons of mech designing and crazy customer requests this is the wrong book. It detours from the science to take a more fantastical approach. Overall good read but definitely not what’s advertised.

I loved the world and mechs, but not the MC. He has very loose morals when his interests are concerned. Always complains why bad things happen to him when he does the same to others. I can't stomach his character. He has zero integrity.
Most chapters are fillers, like constantly saying the same thing in a different way which was already done in previous chapters.
Overall it's good novel, but not for me. Ihate the MC simply.

The MC is a masochistic fuking who accepts all blows happy and I understand that in certain situations it is quite unlikely that he will defend himself. But please, it's going to be the whole damn novel like a disgusting masochist. From the beginning to the present I do not find a trace of progress in that aspect, nor an attempt even if it fails, at least that would be more interesting.

This novel is like a kick in the balls to the mecha genre, it's like fast food but full of cockroaches and shit. The author wants to make at least 10,000 chapters of this crap.
The author seems like a ball blower who sucks the government of his country, his history proves it.

The over all story is much better than many novels I have read. Although there were spots in the book I almost dropped it. Character development is limited and I feel somewhat forced.. like Ves's marriage. But being a sci-fi geek, the story has kept me coming back. This is differently not for everyone. Romance is bland at best, could have been much better.

The world building is great, of course it could be better. But it is keeping my attention so far. I love the tech, ships, and weapons as well as political and tactical decisions made. I served in the military and have traveled the world in between. Cultures and ideologies are huge pressures on local areas. I have seen the outcomes and differences while traveling from one country or region to another. Economics are a big factor as is religions. So it's nice to see the author playing to these.

Areas of concern for me have been the itty gritty tech breakdown and spiritual defining research. If the author focused as much on the character development and plot, this story would be my favorite. Of course I'm just a couch commander when it comes to writing and formulating novels.. so just my two cents.. but a good read in my view when I have time.

Romance in courting phase is just plain bad and I agree with that....I think the romance is work in the making all throughout mariage....just like a real life couple they too have differences but ultimately compromise here and there

    Story Developement:
it doesnt really "develope", there isnt proper cause and effects, No initiative earned, mc doesnt steer the situation. The different Arcs acts more like seasons, and since theres not much character developement either the MC just reacts to these seasons. So how does the story developes? It comes in the form of incoming settings or contrived events and system handouts, the system is the real mc and you get to see how Ves the fake mc fumble through the season with his gifts& handouts. However creating improved mechs has always been the sole progression of both character and story; unfortunately mech creation is almost handled somewhat like a stop gape in between long events most of the time.

    writing quality:
Author doesnt know how to use 3 dollar words at al. He forced in words he doesnt fully understand for no apparent reason. Descriptive words such as ubiquitous or innocuos, inconspicuous should be used as an expression, extentuation, or subtle exaggeration instead or commonly thrown out for no odd reason: he should just use "discreet"or "obvious", "common" "harmless" instead.
Unfortunately when its actually time to use the 3dollar exaggerated words as expressions however the auther used translated french words instead for no reason?? je ne comprende pas¿¿ Is the author trying to break english with style?

The writing itself is exactly like a gradeschool textbook. If the quotes, action, story progressions are the textbooks diagram and illustrations that are easy to understand; then below each "picture" is a boring lengthy commentations, statements, and grossly false claims such as "all humans are based heartless creatures".

eg. mc says after almost having his company taken over "i forgive you this time but if this happens again ill fire you!" after this quote you get bodies of text on how firing him a "bigshot of some kind" would be bad news so although how blatantly beta the mc is there is a self consolation. Almost as if the author knows how beta it is and tries to do immediate damage control. Then he goes on a tangent on mcs pov on that statement alone. Then theresva claim on how "all humans are based greedy animals" and explains why this guy try to take over the company and hed do it again... etc etc drags on... other novels may just mention whats on mcs mind how he will deal with it or organise his thoughts, and react in his mind then execute it slowly. whatever doesnt leave the readers in the dark, treating readers like streetmarket bystanders.

    world background:
a lot of varied backgrounds, a smudge of imagery shown in each at best. a paragraph of adjectives no more for every new setting.. its not enough and feels more like a canvas.

    chacter design:
character doesnt grow, he started off as a hopeless beta with nothing and a thing for taking hits. In fact tve story progresses by the different things hes taking hits from which he does nothing to fix or change himself. taking hits from society before system, the system itself, his cat, business partners, engineers and other designers, bureacracy n gangs, politics n nobles, his mother, master, his famiky, his wife, his kid?. its his system that got him through everything or others doing it for him or telling him what to do.

its below average book but the effort made it a story still. Theres obviously no plot or any storyboarding effort. *to the gradeschoolers* story and plot doesnt mean the same thing

This is actually pretty solid review not sure why ppl voted neg on it I myself read it up to some what 1000 chapters before dropping as the MC ended up contradicting itself a lot and at some point you just have enough. Saying something along the lines that no this is very precious for me and I would never risk with it, but then turns around and makes a winner takes all bet with whatever was precious. Not to say that the whole story seems pretty aimless and without any underlying plot points.

The thing about this story is that it has the potential to be so much better but the author keeps dragging it on with needless arcs which seem to have no other purpose than for a higher chapter count...The world building is great and is filled with rather intriguing mysteries....Sigh its just that its too late for the author to cut down on needles filler arcs....

After all the author said he wants this book to be a 10K chapters story. This is how they make money. The author just need to keep dragging it then add some interesting chapters then keep dragging it again until the plot progress.
