I don't know about that but you definitely should read the prequel, the reason why this novel gain 4.9 stars by around 200 reviewers even though it only have 4 chapters translated is because of the prequel

Even it is not needed to read the prequel for this one ...but in the long term I think u need to read the prequel to better understand the story and events....coz there will be old characters here...which is fine coz when u read a novel and it introduces a strong character u don't always know that character's history.....so my recommendation is go read the first one when I have the chance not mandatory though.....I guess now is the best time ? Coz it release more chapter steadily..so if u go read lotm and then comeback here u can get a lot chapter's at once......

The author mentioned in his interview that he intends to have this book easy to digest for new readers who haven't read the Part 1. You'll be missing a lot of references though and in turn can ruin your reading experience

why would you even start this when there is only a handful of chapter?
